2018 Everything Is Going According To Plan Chardonnay 6 pack
“The Medium straw. Fruit aromas are a complexity of lemon-honey characters, hits of sulphide adds complexity, a wine of great richness and compelling interest.” Philip Shaw*
93 Points "Very light colour. The bouquet also reserved and shy, with subtle almond traces, the palate fine and taut and reserved. A very quiet but subtly intense wine, which looks to need more time to build its full potential complexity. It's ageing very slowly." Huon Hooke

The 2018 growing season was a season of contrasts. The winter (2017) was very dry; June was the driest June on record. We followed our normal practice of pruning quite late to help avoid spring frosts at Koomooloo. As has been the case in the last decade, the seasonal patterns are showing quite a bit of variability – so the spring rains didn’t arrive until November/December. The season was warm and dry from January until harvest. The soils at Koomooloo are deep and have good water holding capacity, so even with low rainfall we still produced an excellent, balanced crop. Yields were moderate, with quality potential excellent. The fruit was picked from Block 11 at Koomooloo. The Block has a southerly aspect. The vines were leaf plucked and secondary shoots removed to allow free air drainage and allow dappled sunlight and at veraison bunch thinning aiming to achieve a crop of about 5 tonnes. The grapes were handpicked, chilled, and pressed the next day. Fermentation with native yeast. Barrels: 1- or 2-year-old French oak from a range of coopers - aged for 12 months in barrel.
