- Tasting Notes
The 2017 growing season was warm and dry. The spring rains set up the season and good rains in January allowed very good flavour development whilst maintaining natural acid. The vintage was a couple of weeks ahead of the typical. The hottest day for summer was 35.6°C. The fruit is from Block 11 at Koomooloo, American clones – V1 & V5. Block 11 has a southerly aspect with a moderate slope. The grapes were handpicked early in the morning, chilled and whole bunch pressed (1200L basket press) to tank to remove heavy solids. The juice was racked to barrel later the same day. Fermentation with native yeasts was allowed to occur. Barrels: 25% new French oak from a range of coopers, the balance older.
