2017 Seven Heaven Chardonnay 6 Pack SOLD OUT

“Retaining a healthy, youthful yellow hue. Measured sulfides - struck match, high-toned lemon pith notes and raw cashews; aromas of Meursault. Immense energy matched with delicate poise. Exceptional winemaking skill meets pristine, cool-climate fruit. Years ahead of it, though hard to imagine this better than right now.”*

96 points -The Real Review*

“Light to mid-yellow colour. Very smoky reductive overtones combined with toasty oak characters. The wine is delicate and refined, subtle and reserved, tending slightly rubbery but rich, intense and ample, the aftertaste of medium-long persistence. The sulfides are on the strong side, but it is very good wine."**

100% chardonnay
The growing season started with a record wet winter. Spring was great, resulting in a good even bud burst and flowering. A record hot January and early February 2017 resulted in an early start for chardonnay harvest in late February. The seasons rain and cool weather in early March combined with excellent dry conditions allowed the red varieties to start the harvest mid-April. Resulting in moderate crops and produced excellent quality fruit. Fruit is picked from French clones 76, 95, 96 from Block 8 at Koomooloo. An East facing 31-year-old vineyard. Grapes are handpicked in the morning then chilled overnight and whole bunch pressed (1200L basket press) to tank. The juiced was racked to barrel later the same day. Native yeast started fermentation which occurred around 20C and took seven days to complete. 100% new French barrel for 15months. Racked and then bottled.

Yellow hue. Smokey attractive, light toasty oak, powerful fruit. Flavour delicate, subtle, reserved. Long persistent flavours. Powerful. Age 10-15 years with good cellar. PS
